Our weekend-o-fun

This last weekend has been a fun one and fully packed. On Friday evening we went camping at a State park in Maryland with some friends from Peter's school. It's been so long since I've been camping and I miss it. We had a great time just hanging out. On the drive home we saw some amazing landscape and stopped by a local stand with fresh veggies and products made nearby. Peter bought me these beautiful lilies. Then we cleaned up our house, went to the ward BBQ and then had some friends over. We saw the movie UP, so cute.

On Sunday was Peter and I's 1st Wedding Anniversary. Yes, it's been a whole year. We relaxed in the morning, went to church, and then enjoyed dinner at his parent's house. It was Father's Day too. Peter and I toasted each other and then all the fathers in the world. We celebrated last night by going to one of our favorite restaurants, Thaiphoon. We'll really celebrate later this summer on our trip to Germany and The Netherlands. So excited!
While I had so much fun this weekend, I'm so tired! Seriously, I'm struggling to be productive at work. Which is funny because I am blogging about not being productive at work, while I'm currently at work not being productive. Ha ha.

Ace of Cakes

I spent last week in Baltimore for work. One afternoon we got the brilliant idea to go to the famous Charm City Cakes bakery that has a show on the food network. Eva and Irene came with me to check it out. Unfortunately you can only be admitted to the bakery by appointment. Oh, and cakes start at $1,000. Yea, crazy I know. We tried hard to see someone from the show, we even peeled up the tinting on the windows to see if we could see anything. We saw a few cakes in the window and people walking around. We so badly wanted to see more.

Although it wasn't the magical event I had hoped for, I'm glad I got to see it. Irene's excitement alone was so worth it!

White Coat Ceremony

Peter got his white coat a couple of weeks ago for medical school. It looks like he's officially on his way to becoming a doctor. Peter's Mom and sister, Katie attended the ceremony to celebrate with Peter. (I was in Hawaii for work, don't judge!)

Last Friday Peter finished his first year of medical school. The year has honestly gone by pretty fast. I know there are harder ones to come, but this last one wasn't too bad. 1 down, 3 to go...... we can totally do this!

Iao and Lahaina

On Thursday after work I headed out to see Iao Valley. Since I was alone, I didn't hike through the State park although I desperately wanted to. Here are some gorgeous pictures though. I can't believe how green and pretty it is, it's honestly out of a movie or something. After this I went to a little town called Lahaina. It used to be a big fisherman's village. Now there are a bunch of darling shops and restaurants right along the water. I ate dinner at the cutest place with the best ocean view. Then bought some souvenirs, just like every tourist does.
I had a great time enjoying the scenery in Hawaii. I most definitely want to visit again, this time with Peter or some family or friends. I can imagine Hawaii being so much better with someone there to share it with!

Thank you Uncle Sam

Good Ol' Uncle Sam funds my trips throughout the U.S. to conduct child welfare reviews of State agencies and this trip he has outdone himself. Somehow we were lucky enough to get to stay at the Wailea Marriott Resort in Maui. This place is incredible!

Last night I got done a little bit early from work and so I went back to the hotel to enjoy the sunset and my book. I then took a swim in the infinity pool that overlooks the ocean. I could have stayed out there all night. There are few things I love more than sitting on the beach reading a good book and enjoying the scenery and the sounds of the ocean.

Highway to Hana

I am in Maui this week for work and on Sunday I took in some of the sites. I took the famous Highway to Hana. It is a very small, crazy road that takes you through the jungle of Maui, small villages, black beach, and has some of the most amazing ocean scenery along the way. Everywhere I looked I saw something else incredible. These pictures do not do justice to the things I saw. I enjoyed some sunbathing, fish tacos and Hawaiian snow cones along the way too, of course.
